The students of the “Kaplanios School” had the opportunity to compare photographs of our region. The first was taken in 1915 and the second in 2017. Trying to observe the changes having occurred for over a century, they noticed how the traditional low houses with tiled roofs were replaced by multi-storey buildings, how the construction materials changed and how the city developed. Through the careful study of the images, the students succeeded in locating the spot where the “Kaplanios School” is today, thus discovering a piece of the history of our city. The specific activity has been a window into the past, and helped us appreciate the development of our place and the importance of preserving historical memory.
